Construction of New Center Update
The gears have been greased and are slowly beginning to turn in the direction of a brand new PRWC! Thanks to the efforts of Weiler Engineering, who has come on board to redesign not only Ponce Park but the Center’s footprint as well, we are now actively working toward beginning construction of our new facility in the park in the Spring of 2020!
After some considerable evaluation of the one acre space leased to us in the park, we have come to the conclusion that we need more room for expansion. In order to make this happen, we have accepted an additional piece of property just three miles from the park in which to move our rehabilitation services. The 1.5 acre parcel is located near the South County Regional Park, nicely off the beaten path, and will become home to our hospital and rehabilitation facility. This will allow PRWC to not only expand it’s public facility in the park, but also our ability to treat the nearly 2500 injured or displaced animals we receive each year. We believe that this will help ensure the future of PRWC.
We are working with Jeff Weiler and ADG Architecture on this site as well and are warming up to jump through the hoops necessary to make this a reality. Our goal is to begin construction of this facility by Summer 2019 so that when work begins in the park, our hospital will be up and running at the satellite location. We will be working hard over the next year to raise additional Capital Campaign funds to cover the expense of both projects. I will update you as the process continues to move forward.
