PRWC Awarded $6,000 Capacity Building Grant

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Peace River Wildlife Center Receives $6,000 Grant from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County to Strengthen Volunteer Management

Punta Gorda, Florida. January 2026

Peace River Wildlife Center, Inc. has received a $6,000 Capacity Building grant from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County to support the implementation of volunteer management software. Funding for the grant comes from the Community Foundation’s Edward K. Roberts Emerging Need Fund.

This funding will help Peace River Wildlife Center strengthen internal systems that support the recruitment, scheduling, training, and communication of volunteers across the organization. Volunteers are essential to the Center’s wildlife rehabilitation efforts, education programs, outreach initiatives, and daily operations.

“Volunteers are critical to our mission and the care we provide to native Florida wildlife,” said Tricia LaPointe, CEO/Executive Director of Peace River Wildlife Center. “This grant allows us to invest in tools that will better support our volunteers while improving efficiency and long-term sustainability as our organization continues to grow.”

The volunteer management software will streamline scheduling, improve communication, track training and certifications, and provide data to support planning and growth. This capacity-building investment helps ensure Peace River Wildlife Center can continue meeting the needs of wildlife and the community it serves.

Founded in 1982, Peace River Wildlife Center is a nonprofit wildlife rehabilitation and education organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of native Florida wildlife, while providing educational experiences that foster conservation awareness and stewardship.
