A Major Milestone for PRWC’s New Education Center

A message from Tricia LaPointe, CEO/Executive Director
On February 25, the Peace River Wildlife Center (PRWC) received an important approval from the Punta Gorda City Council that allows us to close on a bridge loan and move forward with construction of our new Education Center on Henry Street. This milestone marks a significant step in a journey that has been shaped by years of planning and steadfast support from those who believe in our mission.
This bridge loan allows PRWC to begin building a dedicated space designed to expand our educational programming, enhance visitor experiences, and provide appropriate, enriching environments for our resident wildlife ambassadors, while we finish raising the needed funds. The new facility will allow us to host more students, families, and community groups, while deepening our impact through hands-on learning opportunities that foster conservation awareness and compassion for native wildlife.
This moment would not have been possible without the continued encouragement and advocacy of our community. From volunteers and donors to local leaders and partners, your voices and generosity helped demonstrate that this project matters. The strong show of support underscores the shared commitment to wildlife conservation and environmental education here in Punta Gorda.
As we prepare to break ground, we are reminded that while this is a major achievement, it is also the beginning of the final stretch. Continued community support will be essential to fully realize the vision for the Education Center. Together, we are building more than a structure. We are creating a lasting resource for wildlife, education, and the future of our region.

With gratitude,
Tricia LaPointe
