Dug, a male Eastern Gray Squirrel, was surrendered to Peace River Wildlife Center in 2021 after his ‘owner’ decided he did not want to keep Dug as a pet any longer. He was approximately 1 year of age when arriving to PRWC, which is when squirrels typically get a little bit rambunctious. After arriving at PRWC, we attempted to use Dug as an educational ambassador. t We found it was a little difficult to get a hyperactive squirrel to interact with the public. He has since been transferred to our Songbird enclosure where he cohabitates with many different species of birds peacefully.
